Health & Safety Consultant

Location: North of England

Main Duties: 

  • Contribute and collaborate on the maintenance of an appropriate Health and Safety and Environmental management structure, the delivery of and identification of specific Health and Safety and Environmental responsibilities and requirements, and effective communication, co-ordination, and implementation.
  • Support the Health and Safety and Environmental consultancy business within Ensafe Consultants, as part of a comprehensive, professional, high quality, and cost-effective OH&S, Fire, Legionella and Asbestos Project Management, Environmental and Health and Safety Service.
  • To prepare proposals for Health and Safety and Environmental consultancy services for potential and existing clients and deliver those services offered, including risk assessments and reporting.
  • To provide technical advice and assistance to clients on the systematic identification of hazards, assessment of risks, and implementation of suitable and effective control measures to prevent/protect against such risks.
  • Prepare and review Health and Safety and Environmental policies and practice for external clients as a commercial service.
  • Carry out Legionella, FRA, CDM, DSEAR assessments/audits for our clients.
  • Contribute to Health and Safety and Environmental management, performance, and procedures, develop planned programmes of monitoring, evaluation, and review and carry out safety audits.
  • To prepare, or to review and advise on behalf of clients, the adequacy of contract specifications, Health and Safety issues within tender documents, contractors’ company safety policy statements, and safety method statements as part of the tender/approval process of contractors.
  • To interpret UK and EC legislation relating to Health and Safety matters and maintain technical reference resources, advise colleagues within Ensafe Consultants as well as clients, so far as they affect businesses and organisations as employers and providers of service.
  • To provide hands-on Health and Safety and environmental knowledge on sites be that for clients or internally, this may include planning supervision and safety based on the CDM Regulations.
  • Attend events to increase awareness of current Health and Safety and Environmental legislation and best practice and to maximize business development.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety issues, opportunities, development plans, and achievements within agreed formats and timescales.
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for Quality Management, Health and Safety, legal stipulations, environmental policy, and duty of care.
  • Develop and maximize sales and profits for Ensafe Consultants.
  • Report on agreed KPI`s.
  • Correctly identify trends and patterns in events and recognise causes and effects.
  • Reach justifiable conclusions and take appropriate action consistent with those conclusions.
  • Evaluate options, accepting the need to work with ambiguous or conflicting data.
  • Use own initiative to avoid problems, improve performance and create opportunities.
  • It is everybody's responsibility to adhere to the company's policies and procedures as set out in the Integrated Management Systems and to work in line with and promote the company's vision and values. 
  • Additional responsibilities in line with Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental objective noted on the addendum 

Education/Qualifications:NEB

Qualifications: Level 6 H&S qualification (such as NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ Diploma or Degree in H&S) and a level 3 qualification in Fire Risk Assessment or higher.

Professional Membership: Graduate Member of IOSH (GradIOSH) or Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH)

Experience:

  • 2 plus years experience in Health & Safety Manager position.
